Hip Hop legend and Television Executive 50 Cent has had ENOUGH of Hollywood’s blackballing of Mo’Nique, vowing to put her “back on” and into the limelight where she belongs.
After seeing her standup act during Superbowl weekend, 50 went on record stating that Mo’Nique’s comedic stylings placed him “in a trance.” In a succession of statements made on Instagram, Fifty went on to say, “I gotta get Mo’Nique back in pocket, we only supposed to cancel s### that ain’t good for the culture. we need you to WIN again now MO’NIQUE.”
Appearing on Fox Soul’s Turnt Out with TS Madison, Mo’Nique most recently shared that refusal to spend time promoting Precious during the film’s awards campaign led to her being blackballed by the film’s creator and Executive producers. She’s asking that these wrongs be made right.
“Oftentimes when it comes to a Black woman speaking up and speaking out, it goes unheard until she dies. Then once she dies, then we go back and say, ‘Well, she was right,’ and ‘let’s make a movie about it.’” she shared. “See, I can give you their names: Eartha Kitt. I can give you their names: Hazel Scott. I can give you their names: Fannie Lou Hamer. I can give you their names: Hattie McDaniel. All of those women took a stand, and all of those women left here heartbroken, unhealthy, looking at a community saying, ‘Y’all know I’m right, but why won’t anybody say anything?’”
Absent from TV & the big screen since 2016, it seems as though Mo’Nique’s newfound support from 50 Cent, who has become one of the most powerful men in TV, may help to bring a much-needed resurgence to her career.
